Around the Sound

Date planned is the week of August 13th. We can leave on Sunday the 12th and return on Friday the 17th.

Tentative route:

                1. Smokey Point via Centennial Trail (45 miles)

                2. Anacortes (45 miles)

                3. Port Townsend (41 miles)

                4. Poulsbo (35 miles)

                5. Port Orchard (30 miles)

                6. Edmonds (42 miles via West Seattle)

Total of 6 days 5 nights and 238 miles.

Or we could stay 2 days in Anacortes and do a day trip up Chuckanut Drive or over to Thousand Trails and relax in the spa, and come back on Saturday the 18th. That would add one more day and more miles.

Not as aggressive as in the past but it should be a pretty route and we're really going around the Sound. We're also going to scale up the accommodations where possible. A little plusher trip. We'll try not to stay in cinder block hotels. I guess it is a result of more maturity.

Note on Ride Pace

Specifying ride pace is more an art than a science. While the ride may go faster or slower on the flat from time-to-time, the pace value for our rides is the pace the leader expects to be typical while riding on the flat. Ride leaders may put additional pace information in the ride description, like pace on the hills.
