Sno-Mon Loop begins 2nd Season Steve Hastings and Denise Chan have established an ETC tradition. Last year they led the Sno-Mon Loop ride with the not-to-be-skipped pie stop at least 7 times. The tradition
continues. Here are 3 photos from the first ride this year, Saturday, May 18 and two more photos from the June 30 ride. Please note Steve & Denise’s new red Cannondale tandem in the first photo. Watch for more dates.
Sno-Mon Loop: Sat. Dec. 8 Five singles and a lonely only tandem (ride leaders Steve and Denise's half-recumbent tandem!) showed up for the sixth and last Sno-Mon Loop
of the year 2001. The scenic ride is 47 miles through
Woodinville, Maltby, Snohomish, and Monroe. It
was cloudy and dry until the last half of the ride; then it was raining and the wind was blowing and it was freezing cold! We enjoyed tasty pie at the Snohomish Pie company, as always. See you all next year on the Sno-Mon!

Loop rides below. Click on thumbnails to see larger images.
Sno-Mon Loop: Sat. Oct. 20 Another great turnout: 8 tandems and 12 singles showed up for Steve and Denise's mostly-monthly Sno-Mon Loop, a 47-mile bike ride to Maltby, Snohomish, and Monroe.
The weather was cloudy and
chilly until after the ride; while
we were at the Redhook Brewery Forecasters Pub in Woodinville, the sun finally made an appearance and the sky was a pale watery blue with lingering clouds. As on every Sno-Mon Loop, we enjoyed delectable pie at
the Snohomish Pie Co. Britt shared homemade
chocolate chip cookies with everybody--Thanks, Britt! We had an unusual assortment of bikes this time: four single recumbents, one tandem recumbent, a folding Dahon bike, and of course, Steve and Denise's half-recumbent
tandem!
Sno-Mon Loop: Sat. Sept. 22 We had a great turnout for a bike ride on the last day of summer: 3 tandems and 22 singles! And the weather, wow! Sunny, and quite warm before summer
ended and autumn arrived at 4:05 p.m. (we were enjoying post-ride brew and eats at the Woodinville Redhook Brewery's Forecasters Pub by then). Steve and Denise led their mostly-monthly Sno-Mon Loop, a 47-mile bike ride to
Maltby, Snohomish, and Monroe. The views were
stupendous! Check out the now-traditional pie-eating pics taken at
the fabulous Snohomish Pie Co.There are some Redhook pics, but sorry, no actual on-the-bike pics. Honest, we really did put in saddle time! Happy autumn, everybody.
Sno-Mon Loop: Sat. July 28 Wonderful, wet, and wild: that describes Steve and Denise's third Sno-Mon Loop 47-mile jaunt to Maltby, Snohomish, and Monroe. 7 tandems and 6 singles headed out in cloudy,
cool but not too cold weather, with tiny sprinkles off and on. Shortly after the ride start, it started to drizzle, but we hit one dry spell. Then it began raining a little bit harder. We had technical difficulties with our
digital camera, and managed only the pie-eating pictures at the Snohomish Pie Company before the camera started being contrary. A faster group peeled off from the main group in Monroe and beat the deluge that caught the rest of
the group about 5 miles from the finish. Steve and Denise had a close call in downtown Woodinville on the way back; a truck suddenly turned right in front of us without any warning. Fortunately our brakes worked for a panic
stop on the wet pavement. The people in the car behind the truck yelled at the truck driver for us, then asked us if we were okay. What nice people! We enjoyed post-ride brew and eats at Redhook Brewery's Forecasters Pub in
Woodinville.
Sno-Mon Loop: Sat. June 9 Steve and Denise again led a ride on the 47-mile Sno-Mon Loop. Only two tandem teams joined us this time, probably due to the uncertain weather outlook: predicted scattered
showers and a possible afternoon thunderstorm! The weather turned out far better than feared, and even the strong winds helped us more than they slowed us. We rode through Woodinville and Maltby, then stopped in Snohomish to
enjoy the delicious pie at the Snohomish Pie Company. Then it was on to Monroe and back to Maltby. We had a surprise on the way back to Woodinville: a tree had fallen right in the middle of the road, and there were ambulances
and police cars everywhere. We couldn't go back the way we came, but there was an easy detour.
Sno-Mon Loop: Sat. May 19 6 tandems and 3 singles showed up for a ramble to Maltby, Snohomish, and Monroe. It was cloudy with tiny sprinkles at the beginning, and cool, and a little bit breezy, but the
sprinkles stopped and it was "perfect" (well, for the Pacific Northwest!) cycling weather as Steve Hastings and Denise Chan led the group for 47 miles on one of their favorite scenic, rural rides. Yeah, yeah, the
photos make it look like that all we did was just eat! But we really did pedal up and down those hills. We enjoyed great pie at the Snohomish Pie company, and after-ride brew and eats at Red Hook Brewery's Forecasters Pub
in Woodinville. And of course, we finally had our sunbreak *after* we were done with our after-ride treats!
