Description:
Eric Mamroth and Arden Clise have been seriously tandeming for about a year. They borrowed a '94 Santana Arriva last summer with an option to buy--and they did buy it! Eric began tandeming as a bike mechanic doing road checks. The power and sheer dynamic of the bike totally impressed him. After the two were married, they found it frustrating to try to match their biking abilities. They rented tandems occasionally until they got their own this year. They hope in the future to upgrade to a custom bike to fit Arden's tall frame.
Their current goal is to complete a two-day STP. They are both pretty competitive, so a mutual, unstated goal is also to ride swiftly as opposed to a saunter. They'll also probably start doing more multi-day trips on the bike and doing some bike tours in other countries. They are going to France in October and are hoping to do some biking--although it probably won't be on a tandem.
Off the bike, both are members of Toastmasters. Eric has even won contests. They've fostered 22 cats and dogs from the Seattle Animal Shelter and have 3 animals of their own. Eric enjoys writing. Arden enjoys reading. Eric also has a passion for motorcycles. Arden stays home and worries while he rides.
