Driving, so we can take two single bikes and one tandem. Arriving in
Sacramento on the 13th, ride the American River Trail that afternoon and on
the morning of the 14th, and then watch the Prologue in the afternoon. Watch
the start of stage 1 on the 15th in Davis, catch the second King of the
Mountain, and if the timing is right, watch the finishing Criterium in Santa
Rosa, or go to some wineries. Stay near Sausalito the night of the 15th,
catch the start of stage 2 on the 16th, then drive to a selected spot on the
course to catch another KOM, and possibly into Santa Cruz to catch the
finish. Staying in San Jose that night. Tuesday, the 17th, we might be
joining a weekly club ride in Santa Cruz or we'll ride our tandem up Sierra
Grade (another KOM out of San Jose) as far as our winter legs will take us
to catch the KOM there. Then we're going to Solvang Tuesday evening.
Solvang is where the Time Trial will be on Friday, the 20th. Solvang's a
really fun little town, (Did you see the movie Sideways? There's actually a
50 mile bike ride based on the movie, going to the wineries and such), and
we're going to be riding there and in Santa Barbara on Wednesday and
Thursday. We'll ride the time trial course, and set a time for them to
beat. Friday's the TT, and then we head home on Saturday.

Call us cycling groupies. We had a blast when we went in 2007. Hopefully
it won't have changed too much, but the TOC is getting bigger. Last time we
were able to get right up to the team buses, shake rider's hands, drool on
the bikes, and feel the wind from the peloton as they come within a few feet
of you. Every city, especially the cities at the end of each stage, have a
festival geared towards cyclists.

Loads of fun!

well ...tell is more.. when are you leaving? are you driving?flying ? where
are you staying? are you watching from multiple cities?

.

Who's going to California to watch the races? If you're not going or you
haven't been to the Tour of California yet, you're missing out. The Tour of
California is an incredible experience with some of the top professionals in
the world participating. Think Tour De France without having the long
flight. And with Lance coming out of retirement, it's going to be even
crazier. (Imagine seeing Lance riding domestique for Levi, with Ivan Basso,
Floyd Landis, Oscar Freire, and many other big name riders fighting them for
position on the climbs!)

Marishka and I are going down for the week plus a couple of extra days. If
anyone would like to get together for a bike ride, or just lunch or dinner,
let us know. We're going to be spending a few extra days in Solvang.
There's some incredible riding there, and the weather's been in the 70's.

Go Levi!

Larry and Marishka
