NWTR09 counts individuals, not teams. So their 600 registrants are probably just shy of 300 teams, considering triplets, quads & assorted trailers & trailer-bikes.
They have come a long way since early March, when they had only 130 registrants!

Hi Charlie;
Thanks so much for posting this!! This should be a Great Rally!! 600
teams?) is a lot more than the 56 teams that made up the SWTR this year in
exas (although the small group made it easy to get to talk to everyone).
Hope to see many of you at the Rally.
Later,
Ralph and Sheila Furlong

I can't believe it's only a little over a month away before the Northwest
Tandem Rally rolls into Victoria. Plans are pretty much complete just
awaiting execution. Registration is approaching 600 which is beyond our
expectations given the current state of the economy and the above normal
effort required to get here. Clothing sales have been very good. We've had
> a
very good response to our offer to guide people out to Bucharts Gardens on
the Friday. It's been quite an effort but the routes are finally all
decided. They really will give participants a chance to see pretty much
all
that we've got here. Riders will be challenged but rewarded. All in all
it's
looking to be a grand weekend. And, by the way, the rally will be
coinciding
with our annual Jazz Fest http://jazzvictoria.ca/ if you're into that
sort
of thing.
A couple of people have expressed an interest in having a little Hobbes
get
together at some point. If you could contact me so I could have an idea of
numbers and some ideas about what would work, I could look into what our
possibilities might be.
So far being involved with the organization of this has been quite a
revelation as to all the work of previous groups who have sponsored this
event. My own role has been pretty small compared with a couple of people
who have really knocked themselves out getting us to this point. While I'm
looking forward to this year's rally, I'm even more looking forwar
d to
enjoying the fruits of other's labours in coming years.
