This story begins with Jeannie's handlebar tape. It was totally shot. But it was only worn in, sort of the sideways part closest to the stem. Not in the forward reaches. Come to find out it's too much of a stretch for her. Hmmmm. So I moved her saddle forward 3/4" and we went out for a ride today on our own to see if that would work for her. Make adjustments etc.
Oh and she's got new tape now too so....
But moving that saddle forward that little bit made a HUGE difference in the way the bike handles. It's WAY more sporty and lively now, and I was digging it. Being closer together reduces inertia I suppose. AND she can reach the rest of her h-bar now.
So anyways we pull into Snohomish and dang if the Flying Wheels ain't blowing thru there at that exact moment. Go figure. So we find out they are riding to Monroe on the old highway then taking Highbridge. All that was the route WE were doing and we were thinking of changing plans, but decided to join the fray. Safety in numbers and all that.
And THAT'S where we went all crazy and amped it way up. Pretty soon we were pulling a sizable train into Monroe. Both Jeannie and I were ready to blow a gasket but we were just having too much fun to back off. Turns out on of the guys in the train was pouring beer at Marymore after the ride and offered to set us up as thanks for the pull we gave him. Rats oh well.
Highbridge road was almost deserted and a total delight to ride with lower than normal traffic.
So all in all a delightful day. We can barely walk right now, and will probably be asleep in an hour.
The end.
Oh and we think we saw Pat and Kathy on their tandem in Mornoe. Not sure tho.
