[ETC-Discussion] Few Tandems at Bike Expo

Ralph and I were surprised at the lack of tandems as well. No R & E, and
with Gateway folding it was no Santana representation either. The cold,
blustery, wet weather continued Sunday. We brought extra warm clothes for
our early shift, and felt fortunate compared to the poor souls outside in
the food vending area. Not only wet/windy conditions, but most people seemed
unwilling to deal with standing in line for their food and freeze trying to
eat it as well! The outside tents had leaked excessively, and carpets were
still sopping late in the afternoon. The crowds seemed very light, but maybe
that was due to weather.

The ETC display was really first class. The photos around the banner seemed
to really catch people's attention. The
Slide show was an excellent idea, but the positioning of the two clubs at
the 90 degree angle had our display side by side with a much larger one from
C.O.G.S. (which was a little distracting), and then the power kept going
out.

We talked with 4 potential teams, one of which took the membership form with
them. Another is shopping for a tandem, and seemed interested in the tandem
101 workshop, and all 4 of them seemed pleasantly surprised, and excited,
with the ride calendar.

And, Jim Grippen seems to be the one with the weather hat this year, I
noticed he scheduled walks for March! So tell us OH WISE ONE, do you see dry
roads soon?

Sheila and Ralph

I agree. I was disappointed as well. Very few indeed.

Felt sorry for the vendors. That was the coldest and most miserable
couple of hours I have ever spent at Bike Expo (Sat. late afternoon).

ETC looked good. Any reports on the experience from our fearless
volunteers?

I was disappointed that there weren't many tandems at the Bike Expo.
Co-Motion had several and Ti Cycles had one on display, but we didn't
see any others. R+E wasn't there. Were there any tandems that we
missed?
