In regards to the shifters issue, the club has a 10% discount on
everything at Sammamish Valley Cycle 8451 164th Ave. NE in Redmond and
Velo Veloce 98 Front Street S in Issaquah,, and a 10% discount on
service at Counterbalance Bicycles 2943 NE Blakeley St in Seattle
right next to the trail behind the University Village. All of these
shops are very knowledgeable about your issue. An easy way to check
the function of a rear derailleur is to hand-pull on the cable to see
if this will enable it to shift. If it doesn't shift look at the rear
derailleur. If it does shift when hand-pulling on the cable then it
is possibly your 105 front derailleur. Unfortunately, Shimano
shifters are not rebuildable. 105's are relatively inexpensive to
replace, or you could upgrade to a 9-speed changing the derailleur and
the cassette. A good source for used parts is recycle Cycles in the U
District on the canal. Judi Coglon
