The Concrete/Darrington ride tomorrow is on, as weather looks good (sunny
and high 50s). Hope to see you there!
Start point: Gravel Parking lot at Railroad Avenue & Highway 530, just East
of the IGA in Darrington.
Destination: To Concrete & return.
Description: Join us for a low traffic ride from Darrington to Concrete and
back. We might even get to see some fall color. Since most traffic is
between either Darrington or Concrete and Interstate 5, this section of road
connecting the two cities doesn’t get much use.
The route is about half on highway 530 and half on Concrete Sauk Valley road
that parallels the Skagit River. Sauk Valley road is very quiet with views
to the river and Mt Baker. Round trip will be a little over 60 miles. The
hills along Sauk Valley road are rolling but none are long. We’ll only need
to contend with them during the middle section of the ride.
We’re planning a stop at a park in Concrete for food/rest.
Hope to have you join us for this peaceful ride up north. Half bikes
welcome!
Pace: 16-18 mph
Terrain: Some Hills
Food: Bring your own
Distance: ~60 miles
