To all-

For those of you who do not receive the Cascade Bike Club newsletter, see
below. I have attended talks by Jeff and Louise, including at CBC, a few
years ago before they left on their extended venture, so it is certainly
will be worth getting the latest. Here is a link to their blog as well
(this link is also on the ETC website):

Perhaps someone can put this talk on the ETC calendar as an informational
item.

Cascade Bicycle Club
Tuesday, Oct. 13
Annual Membership Meeting and Presentation: By Tandem from Key West to
Canada
Meeting: 6:30-7:30
Presentation: 7:30-9
Location: Seattle REI

We welcome all members to the Cascade Bicycle Club Annual Meeting on
Tuesday, Oct. 13 at the Seattle REI. Learn what your Club has been up to and
provide input into where you think it should go. Talk to staff, board
members, volunteers and others. You can also cast your vote for board
members. The voting deadline is Oct. 13.

Right after the meeting, we present: By Tandem from Key West to Canada.
Long-time Cascade members Jeff and Louise Davis wanted to do something big
on their tandem to celebrate retirement. Since they wanted it to go from
January to September, what could be better than a bike trip from Key West to
Canada? Follow them north from the tip of Florida through the Everglades,
the sea islands of Georgia, a chilly week in April riding the Outer Banks of
North Carolina with Cascade friends Steve and Janet Sisson, and much more.
This was no head-down hammerfest. They took time to smell the sea roses,
watch the ponies of Chincoteague, canoe white water in Vermont, spend two
nights on a dairy farm in Connecticut, and still ride 5,200 wildly indirect
miles to the Canadian border at Derby Line, Vermont.

Besides showing you the scenery, Jeff and Louise will explain how to find
interesting routes and places to stay far from home, and share their
philosophy on how to enjoy a long bike trip and stay happily married. Come
join them on this journey of a lifetime.
